GOJU-RYU was developed by Okinawan instructor Chojun Miyagi from one of the oldest styles, Shorei-Ryu or Naha-Te. Goju-Ryu is known for its emphasis on low stance training, dynamic tension and breathing exercises. Training builds strength, muscle, bone structure and endurance.

Goju-Ryu and its antecedents have influenced almost every modern style of karate, including Shotokan, Shito Ryu, Isshin Ryu, Wado Ryu, and other classical systems.
